At the German Family Society, we are a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers. Every penny we make at our events goes directly to our children's programs, facility or other needs such as purchasing food for events, festival rental fees, utilities and maintenance, etc. 

From our President to our ticket runners, our wonderful kitchen crew to facility maintenance, every helping hand goes into keeping our heritage alive. We are so grateful for our generations of members, families and friends who have stepped up to keep our organization running smoothly for every event, festival and year round activities. 

Many volunteers become lifelong members, their children may grow up through our many dance groups, finding their greatest friends. Most of all, we all become a family. Family is what our organization is all about, and like a family we put in the work to make every occasion successful for all our guests.

Hoping to lend a hand, but not sure where or unsure of your experience? Don't sweat it - there will always be a member to help you out and explain what to do. 

Here are some of our volunteer positions and expectations:

• Kitchen (various cooking, serving food, washing dishes, delivering food to stations, etc. - no cooking skills required and our most desperately needed position help at any event!)
• Dessert Haus (serving desserts and drinks, some preparation, etc.) 
• Bars & Biergarten (serving beer and other drinks, keeping stocked at all stations, etc.)
• Ticket sales
• Grounds crew (parking cars, lawn care, tear up and tear down for festivals, etc.) 
• And more!

I'm not a Member, can I still help? 

Yes! We need all the help we can get. Please get in contact with us for further information and we will connect you with the right contact. 

I'm not German, can I still help? 

Of course! No matter your heritage, everyone is welcome at the German Family Society. 

What are the benefits of volunteering? 

Each full volunteer shift you will receive a meal, a drink and free entrance to the event. You also could gain valuable recipes from Oma, make great friends while on your shift with other volunteers and members, and you may find yourself a lifelong member of the GFS. 

Every year we also have a Volunteer's Picnic to thank everyone who has helped us! 

Oktoberfest & Old Europeanfest volunteers: This is a really great way to skip the entrance fee and get your favorite Oktoberfest or Old Europeanfest meal without all the cost! Just a few hours of your day helping out with our kitchen crew, or other positions and you could spend the rest of your day enjoying the event!
