BOARD MEMBERS

Our Board of Trustees is composed of dedicated volunteers who provide oversight in all areas of the Akron German Family Society, ensuring effective management and decision-making. Each board member is responsible for fulfilling the duties of their position consistently, including during all events. Many of our board members have personal connections to the organization, whether through family ties, involvement in the founding of the Society, or participation in our dance groups. 

While German heritage is not a requirement for membership, we strongly encourage our members to consider the Donauschwaben heritage and the historical significance upon which our club was founded when making decisions. We deeply appreciate the time and commitment of our volunteers, whose efforts help ensure the long-term success and continuity of our organization.

Board members are elected annually in November. Only active members of the German Family Society are eligible to vote, though all members are encouraged to attend the election meeting.

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, an Elections Committee was established in 2020 to conduct our inaugural mail-in election. This process resulted in a higher voter turnout compared to previous in-person elections, reflecting a positive shift in member engagement. 

We have carried this new method to our current organization. A committee of board members oversees our entire election process, from sending our information to collecting ballots, to announcements.
