The German Family Society is a non-profit, social organization made up entirely of volunteers. All of our proceeds (entrance, food, drink, etc.) go directly into maintaining our facility, grounds and supporting our groups. We are a family organization, whose mission is to keep our heritage and traditions alive. Oktoberfest is our largest event of the year and we count on your support.
Yes, handicapped parking is available, but limited to first come first served. Handicap drop off is available depending on general parking limit. As cars come and go, we will keep a steady entrance for parking.
Parking is free and on a first come, first served basis. If our parking lot is full, as cars leave then we will begin to let the next cars in. We recommend arriving early to guarantee a parking spot. Please avoid parking along the residential side streets, you may be subject to towing on private property.
If you are arriving in an Uber/Lyft, please let the parking volunteers know so they may drop you off or pick you up at the front.
Thank you for your patience and please drive responsibly.
Our annual Oktoberfest is rain or shine!
We have many large tents, umbrellas and covered seating areas to enjoy in the festival. Inside our specious hall we have a full service bar, more seating and a dancefloor. If necessary, our entertainment will move inside the clubhaus.
Cash and card are accepted in different areas.
There is a $5 cash only entrance fee per person. Ages 12 and under are free.
There is an ATM on site inside the clubhaus.
To purchase food and drinks, you must first purchase tickets or tokens from our ticket booths throughout the festival (see grounds map).
For example, if you would like to purchase a dinner for $15.00, you would purchase $15.00 in tickets with cash or tokens with card.
All tickets purchased in cash can be returned for cash or used at all future events. Tokens purchased with card cannot be redeemed for cash.
Vendors may accept cash or card.
All food can be taken to go, please ask your server for a to-go container.
Q: If I just want food to-go do I have to pay the entrance fee?
A: The German Family Society is a non-profit, social, family-led organization made up entirely of volunteers. All of our proceeds (entrance, food, drink, etc.) go directly into maintaining our facility, grounds and supporting our groups. We are a family organization, whose mission is to keep our heritage and traditions alive. Your $5 entrance fee supports events like Oktoberfest—our largest of the year—and we would highly appreciate if you would consider paying the entrance fee to stick around and enjoy our festival before getting your food to-go. If you are just stopping in for food to-go, please inform the entrance gate. You will not receive a wristband. Guests without a wristband who are not holding to-go containers or in line for their to-go food will be asked to leave or return to the entrance gate.

We are a 100% volunteer-run organization. We are proud to say that we do not require a registration fee for any of our dancers. We only ask they show up with a smile, eagerness to learn, and a pep in their step for polka!
By making a purchase at our fundraiser tents, you are directly helping our dancers with costume alterations and maintenance, music technology, prop maintenance, transportation to performances, group bonding activities, and more.
Our kids (and kids at heart) love being active participants in not only dancing, but also to be involved by volunteering at their fundraising booths at our festivals. Together, they all make up part of the "family" in German Family Society.

Thank you for coming out to support the German Family Society. We have continued with revamped seating areas and added more seating throughout the park. This allows you to choose the seating and area to your liking.
This organization was started in 1955 at St. Bernard’s Church in downtown Akron. In the 1960’s we moved to the German-American club on Grant Street. In 1973 The German Family Society of Akron was founded, after purchasing this parcel of land.
We are a non-profit, private social organization whose charter is to promote and pass along our culture, traditions, heritage and language to future generations. We are a family society and comprised of volunteers who help with all our functions and maintain these grounds. We have approximately 12-15 functions per year. Our best known and open to the public events are our two-day “Old European Days & Bierfest” held every year in June, and our three day “Oktoberfest”, recognized as one of the most original and traditional Oktoberfests in the state.
If you are interested in becoming a member and want to become part of our family please go to www.germanfamilysociety.com/new-membership-info to find more information, call the club at 330-678-8229, or speak with any of our Officers.
We hope you enjoy the entertainment we have lined up for you this year and you share with your friends what a great time you had.
